Sarasota Land Rover, Range Rover, and Jaguar Misfire Diagnosis and Repair
Why is my Jaguar, Land Rover, or Range Rover shaking, shuddering, or not accelerating?
Your vehicle shaking, sputtering, stalling, jerking while accelerating, or any similar drivability issue can potentially be caused by a misfire in your engine. Whatever the case may be, there is a problem with the drivability of the car that could lead to further damage or potentially pose a safety concern (fuel leaks, unsafe level of performance/acceleration, stalling then not having power steering, etc).
What causes Land Rover, Range Rover, or Jaguar misfires?
Misfires in these vehicles can be caused by a wide variety of issues, from faulty sensors, spark plugs or coils, air or fuel leaks, bad head gasket, or a variety of other mechanical or electrical failures.
In simple terms, what is a misfire?
A misfire is an event in which the combustion process of fuel happens at the wrong time or does not happen at all. This can be felt by the driver as a hesitation, stutter, or sputtering when idling or accelerating.
In order to achieve proper combustion, engines need proper amounts of air, fuel, compression, and ignition. If any one of these is not within the manufacturer’s operating specifications, a misfire can develop. For example, air leaks lead to improper amounts of air, bad injectors or fuel pumps may lead to improper fueling, bad piston rings may cause improper compression, and failing spark plugs or coils can lead to improper ignition. All of these may cause a misfire and a Check Engine Light.
