Sarasota Land Rover, Range Rover, and Jaguar Supercharger Repair

Modern Land Rovers and Range Rovers use smaller displacement engines with superchargers in order to produce their power. Some top-of-the-range Range Rover models continue to be powered by the powerful supercharged V8’s. Supercharged motors are considered “forced induction” engines, meaning that air is forced into the engine’s cylinders by the supercharger.

What is a supercharger?

A supercharger is a belt-driven unit that forces additional air into the combustion chamber. With more air comes more oxygen, which allows more fuel to be burned and more power to be made. There are various types of superchargers, including twin-screw, centrifugal, and roots-style superchargers. The superchargers on these engines are composed of a complex series of gears, pulleys, bearings, and heat exchangers.

What is the noise from my Land Rover or Range Rover’s engine?

If you begin to hear a noise from the engine, it may be caused by the supercharger. Supercharger snout bearings and “isolators” are known failure points of some of these engines and cause a clattering or rattling noise in the engine bay while the car is running. Supercharger issues are not the only cause of rattling or clattering, so be sure to have your local Sarasota Range Rover and Land Rover specialist diagnose the engine noises in these highly unique and specialized cars!

We have seen numerous supercharger failures, timing chain issues, and other various noises in these Range Rovers so there is nothing that we have not properly diagnosed and repaired!
